 Несподіване рішення Meta розірвати партнерство із журналістами у сфері фактчекінгу є частиною набагато більших змін у медіа та політиці. Про це пише CNN.

Марк Цукерберг назвав фактчекерів як "занадто політично заангажованих" і сказав, що вони "зруйнували більше довіри, ніж створили, особливо в США". Серед кого саме зруйнували довіру, він не уточнив. Однак обраний президент США Дональд Трамп, який не дає спокою фактчекерам і ненавидить, коли вони його виправляють, привітав зміни в Meta.

 Алан Дюк, колишній журналіст CNN, який зараз керує сайтом фактчекінгу Lead Stories, сказав, що його фірма була приголомшена заявою Meta і звинуваченнями Цукерберга в упередженості:

Meta ніколи не ставила під сумнів політичну упередженість Lead Stories за шість років роботи в програмі... Без перевірки фактів на Meta розповсюджувачі дезінформації будуть розважатися так, ніби зараз 2016 рік.

Саме в цей час вигадані історії в соцмережах змусили Facebook та інші технокомпанії вжити заходів. Тепер Цукерберг, по суті, зводить нанівець ці наміри.

 Meta заявила, що для перевірки фактів буде використовувати систему "приміток спільноти" за зразком X, яка заохочує користувачів з різними точками зору узгоджувати коригувальні примітки до оманливого контенту.
