В интернете открылась регистрация сайтов в семи новых доменах верхнего уровня. Регистрация осуществляется компанией Donuts, получивший соответствующее разрешение от международной организации ICANN.

Начиная с 29 января пользователи могут создавать сайты в доменных зонах .bike (велосипед), .clothing (одежда), .guru (гуру), .holdings (холдинги), .plumbing (водопровод), .singles (одинокие), и .ventures (венчуры), пишет Lenta.ru.

Позже, 5 февраля, Donuts также запустит регистрацию в еще нескольких новых доменных зонах, в основном связанных с фотографией и графикой. Доступными станут домены .camera (фотоаппарат), .equipment (оборудование), .estate (недвижимость), .gallery (галерея), .graphics (графика), .lighting (освещение) и .photography (фотография).

Свободная регистрация ресурсов на всех перечисленных доменах в Рунете пока недоступна. До 24 января компания Ru-Center, подписавшая соглашение с Donuts, принимала приоритетные заявки на регистрацию имен в зонах .bike, .clothing, .guru, .holdings, .plumbing, .singles, и .ventures. В остальных новых зонах регистрация (также закрытая), как ожидается, продлится до 31 января. Свободная регистрация доменных имен откроется только 5 февраля.

Ранее в Сети было доступно немногим более 20 доменов верхнего уровня (не считая тех, что выделены конкретным странам). Большинство из них не привязано к какому-либо конкретному роду занятий, профессии или виду деятельности. Самыми популярными и распространенными доменами, в частности, были .сom, .org и .net.
