Американская глобальная социальная служба новостей «Vocativ» провела параллели между событиями в Украине и сюжетом вышедшего в 2012 году фильма «Голодные игры».

«Голодные игры» – фильм режиссера Гэри Росса по одноименному роману Сьюзен Коллинз, пишет Новый регион. По сюжету, Голодные игры – это жестокие соревнования, которые стали наказанием за бунт многолетней давности, но за прошедшие годы превратились в развлекательное шоу, транслируемое на всю страну. Китнисс – главная героиня киноленты – вынужденно становится участницей Голодных игр и в итоге побеждает в состязаниях.

По замыслу журналиста – автора столь новаторского сравнения, в качестве «прототипа» главной героини фильма в Киеве выступает певица Руслана. Именно ее называют «тотемом Евромайдана» и приравнивают к Китнисс – ведущему символу угнетенных жителей.

О «Беркуте» говорят как о жестоких Миротворцах из «Голодных игр», которые созданы, чтобы блюсти порядок, однако «часто превышают свои полномочия».

Владимир Кличко сравнивается с «хвастливым Финником».

Автор статьи в «Vocativ» находит среди героев фильма отражения и Владимира Путина, и Юлии Тимошенко, и скандально известного российского журналиста Дмитрия Киселева, и даже президента Казахстана Нурсултана Назарбаева как «потенциального «могильщика» имперских планов Путин».
