Alibaba Group за два місяці запустить стрімінговий відеосервіс у Китаї.

У компанії вважають, що новий продукт складе конкуренцію американським онлайн-відеосервісам Netflix та HBO Now,пише Media Sapiens

Інтернет-сервіс називатиметься TBO (Tmall Box Office). Контент складатиме продукція місцевого виробництва, а також інших країн. Водночас компанія планує створювати для ТВО ексклюзивний контент.

Керівник напряму цифрового розважального контенту Alibaba Патрік Лью заявив: «Наша щісія - визначити заново напряг домашних розваг».

Близько 90 % вмісту сервісу будуть платними.

Китайський ринок онлайн-відео є висококонкурентним. Компанії encent Holdings, Baidu, Sohu.com та Leshi Internet Information & Technology Corp Beijing витрачають мільярди доларив для закупівлі медійного контенту, аби привабити бильше користувачів та зайняти домінуючу позицию на домашньому ринку.

При цьому Alibaba вже має частку у розмірі 16,5 % у відеострімінговій платформі Youku Tudou. Як це вплине на майбутній сервіс - поки не відомо.

HBO Now — VOD-сервіс, запущений у квітні цього року. Він належить кабельному телеканалу HBO, що відомий завдяки таким популярним серіалам, як «Гра престолів» та «Дроти».

Netflix — американський стрімінговий відеосервіс, що надає можливість перегляду фільмів та серіалів за підпискою. Компанія виробляє й ексклюзивний контент, серед якого варто відзначити «Картковий будинок» та «Оранжевий - хіт сезону».
