Американська журналістка Кетрін Тімпф розповіла, що фанати "Зоряних воєн" погрожують вбити її за зневажливі жарти про фантастичну кіноепопею.

У жовтні Тімпф взяла участь у сатиричній передачі "Червоне око" на каналі Fox News, де заявила, що їй нецікаво дивитися "на космічних ідіотів, які б'ють один одного маленькими ідіотськими космічними мечами" і назвала шанувальників "Зоряних воєн" божевільними.

Після цієї репліки, за словами Тімпф, вона почала отримувати численні погрози в соціальних мережах. У деяких вказувалися точні дати розправи над журналісткою.

"Безліч людей дуже засмутилися, - сказала Тімпф, яка працює оглядачем у виданні National Review. - Але знаєте що? Я не вибачаюся. Чому? Тому що нашою культурою зараз править одержимість політкоректністю. Потрібно повзати на колінах, вибачаючись за необразливі жарти. Такий стан речей загрожує нашій свободі слова, і я відмовляюся бути частиною всього цього". Тімпф додала, що ті люди, які погрожують їй, не представляють думку більшості фанатів "Зоряних воєн", але її дивує, що така кількість дорослих людей здатна на подібну поведінку.
