У Києві з монументу «Батьківщині-матері» мають намір зняти радянську символіку.

Про це у Фейсбук повідомив керівник Українського інституту національної пам'яті Володимир В'ятрович.

«Зі щитом, але без совка на ньому. Герб СРСР буде усунено з щита скульптури "Батьківщина-мати», - пише він.

Монумент «Батьківщини-матері» відкритий у столиці України 1981 року. Він сягає у висоту 102 метри, загальна вага споруди 450 тонн. В одній руці статуя тримає 16-метровий меч вагою у 9 т, в іншій - щит розміром 13 × 8 м з гербом СРСР вагою 13 тонн.
