Влада Болгарії вислала запрошення президенту Туреччини Тайїпу Ердогану на святкування на честь визволення країни від османського ярма при тому, що президент Росії Володимир Путін такого запрошення не отримав. Про це повідомляє The Bulgarian Times, передають Українські новини.

B повідомленні йдеться, що причиною такого рішення влади стало політичне зближення з Туреччиною.

Як зазначається, одним з основних аргументів є те, що в Болгарії загинули більше турецьких солдатів, ніж росіян.

З 1396 по 1878 рік Болгарія входила до складу Османської імперії. В результаті перемоги Росії в російсько-турецькій війні 1877-1878 років було підписано Сан-Стефанський договір між Росією і Османською імперією, і Болгарія здобула незалежність.

У Болгарії цей день є національним святом.
