Члены правящей Консервативной партии Великобритании хотят, чтобы должность премьер-министра страны вместо Терезы Мэй занял министр финансов Филип Хаммонд.
 

Об этом говорится в материале The Times, передает «ДС«.

Консерваторы выступают за альянс Хаммонда с министром по делам Brexit Дэвидом Дэвисом, который в случае перестановок в правительстве может занять должность заместителя премьера. Вдвоем они, как считают представители Консервативной партии, могут поспособствовать безопасному выходу Великобритании из Евросоюза.

По данным издания, Филипа Хаммонда хотят назначить лидером правящей Консервативной партии уже в октябре, однако только при условии, что он пообещает покинуть пост премьер-министра через два года.

«Он сказал мне, что, если Тереза Мэй может выполнять эту работу, то и он сможет»,- рассказал бывший член кабинета министров.

Представитель Терезы Мэй отказался комментировать информацию.
