Голова комісії з соціальної мобільності Великобританії подав у відставку, звинувативши уряд у тому, що він "зациклився" на Brexit і з цієї причини не приділяє соціальним проблемам країни достатньо уваги.

У своїх критичних зауваженнях на адресу дій уряду Алан Мілберн і троє інших членів комісії, які також подали у відставку, звинуватили кабінет Терези Мей у відсутності "лідерства" для того, щоб пройти через необхідні зміни.

"Я не ставлю під сумнів вашу особисту віру в соціальну справедливість, але я бачу мало свідчень її втілення в значущі практичні заходи", - написав Мілберн в листі Терези Мей, пояснюючи причини своєї відставки.

Мілберн вважає, що займатися вирішенням соціальних питань Мей заважає її надмірна увага до проблем Brexit. За його словами, вона обіцяла створити економіку, яка буде працювати для всіх британців, але вона не в змозі виконати свої обіцянки.
