Бывший генеральный директор Google и председатель материнской компании Alphabet Эрик Шмидт назначен руководителем нового консультативного совета по оборонным инновациям в в Министерстве обороны США. Приказ о назначении подписал глава ведомства Эштон Картер в среду, 2 марта, передает "ДС" со ссылкой на CNN.

Предполагается, что члены совета будут держать Пентагон в курсе последних высокотехнологических идей и помогать его сотрудникам применять инновации в своей деятельности. Всего в группе будет до 12 человек, представляющих крупные частные компании и общественные организации.

В то же время группа Шмидта не будет иметь доступа к информации о стратегии военных действий.

Отметим, что Шмидт был активным сторонником и доверенным лицом президента Барака Обамы в начале его пребывания в Белом доме, однако в последние годы их отношения осложнились.
