Бывший гендиректор HP и политик-республиканец Карли Фиорина (Carly Fiorina) объявила в понедельник, 4 мая, о намерении бороться за пост президента США. Как сообщает Reuters, об этом она заявила во время передачи «Доброе утро, Америка» на телеканале ABC News,передает Лента.ру

Да, я собираюсь баллотироваться на пост президента. Я считаю, что я лучший кандидат на эту должность, поскольку знаю, как на самом деле работает экономика. Я понимаю мир, людей в нем и как мир работает», — заявила политик.

Таким образом, Фиорина стала первой женщиной-кандидатом от Республиканской партии.

3 мая 65-летний нейрохирург Бен Карсон также заявил о намерении баллотироваться в президенты США от Республиканской партии. Кроме того, о намерении поучаствовать в президентской гонке объявили республиканцы Тед Круз и Рэнд Пол. Ожидается, что в выборах от этой партии могут также принять участие губернатор Нью-Джерси Крис Кристи, губернатор Висконсина Скотт Уокер, сенаторы Линдси Грэм и Марко Рубио.
