Список з’явився після того, як Sunday Times опублікувала імена журналістів, що працюють у британському бюро російського Sputnik.
 

Як передає The Guardian, в опублікованому списку надані також фотографії журналістів ВВС. Він складається з 44 кореспондентів, більшість з яких є громадянами Росії.

У списку були лише ті особи, хто акредитований російською владою. Зазначалися їхні юридичні імена, що відрізняються від псевдонімів.

Вперше дані з’явилися в анонімній групі "ВКонтакте", а потім були передруковані медіа РФ. Світлини репортерів зібрали з їхніх соціальних мереж та інших відкритих джерел.

Витік стався за тиждень після того, як Роскомнагляд заявив, що почне перевірить ВВС  на відповідність матеріалів російському законодавству. У Кремлі це називали відповіддю на рішення британського регулятора Ofcom. Тоді відомство звинуватилоросійське пропагандистське ЗМІ RT ( Russia Today) у порушенні кодексу телерадіомовлення Великої Британії.  

Цей витік також пов’язують із опублікованим The Sunday Times минулого тижня подібного списку журналістів британського бюро іншого кремлівського медіа Sputnik. У Москві сказали, що ці дані можуть створити небезпечні умови для її кореспондентів.

Речник ВВС зазначив, що них є жорсткі правила, які забороняють публікувати особисті дані її журналістів, якщо для цього не було чіткої потреби. «Ми розчаровані такою безпідставною публікацією деталей щодо наших працівників у Москві», — зазначив він.

Нагадаємо, раніше знімальна група ВВС заявляла, що за нею в Росії стежили.
