Канцлер ФРГ Ангела Меркель (Angela Merkel) подверглась нападкам со стороны демонстрантов в Дрездене, куда она прибыла на официальные торжества по случаю отмечаемого в понедельник, 3 октября, национального праздника - Дня германского единства. Возле охраняемой зоны на площади Ноймаркт собравшиеся выкрикивали: "Меркель должна уйти!" и "Изменница Родины!", сообщает DW.com.

Среди демонстрантов были сооснователь антиисламского движения Pegida Луц Бахман (Lutz Bachmann) и сторонники популистской партии "Альтернатива для Германии" (АдГ).

Официальные торжества по случаю праздника 3 октября начинаются с экуменической службы в дрезденской Фрауэнкирхе (церковь Богоматери), на которой, в числе прочих, будут присутствовать президент ФРГ Йоахим Гаук (Joachim Gauck) и председатель Федерального конституционного суда Андреас Фоскуле (Andreas Voßkuhle). Затем состоится праздничная церемония в Дрезденской опере, куда приглашены около тысячи гостей.

Праздничные мероприятия по случаю 3 октября начались в Дрездене еще в субботу. В воскресенье, 2 октября, демонстранты подвергли нападкам мэра города Дирка Хильберта (Dirk Hilbert). Его также обзывали "изменником Родины" и призывали уйти в отставку. Недовольство демонстрантов вызвал прием для мусульман, устроенный Хильбертом в городской ратуше по случаю исламского Нового года.
