Депутаты Верховной Рады удовлетворили его заявление 227 голосами, но только со второй попытки. В первый раз проект постановления набрал 218 голосов при 226 минимально необходимых.

Выступая с трибуны парламента, он пояснил, что хочет дать дорогу молодым,пишет LB.ua

Шлемко также заявил, что займется местными выборами как глава Ивано-Франковской облорганизации партии "Батькивщина".

Шлемко был 11 номером в списке "Батькивщины".

Место Шлемко в Раде должен занять 19-й номер списка "Батькивщины" Валерий Дубильиз Чернигова. Он родился 26 сентября 1973 года, в прошлом созыве парламента был заместителем председателя Комитета Верховной Рады по вопросам бюджета.

Однако сам Шлемко спрогнозировал, что его место займет не Дубиль, а 20-й номер в списке "Батькивщины", экс-нардеп Андрей Шевченко.

Шлемко пояснил, что Дубиль примет участие в выборах по мажоритарному округу в Чернигове, "где он не раз выигрывал".
