Соціальна мережа Facebook внесе зміни в алгоритм відбору і показу "популярних новин" у зв'язку з підозрами в замовчуванні тих чи інших тем, повідомляє Укрінформ.

"У Facebook немає ніяких підстав вважати, що механізм показу новин, як це стверджувалося в ЗМІ, вручну корегувався працівниками соціальної мережі у користь демонстрації ліберального порядку, однак теоретично така можливість існує", - відзначають в компанії.

У зв'язку з цим у компанії вирішили вжити ряд заходів. В першу чергу вони стосуються перенавчання та розробки нових інструкцій для співробітників, що відповідають за механізм показу "популярних новин". Також Facebook більше не буде покладатися на список популярних видань, який використовувавалися в роботі алгоритму, і не буде порівнювати популярність тих чи інших нотаток з порядком найбільших американських видань.

Як відомо, на початку травня видання Gizmodo опублікувало матеріал про роботу блоку Trending News, в який потрапляють найбільш обговорювані матеріали в Facebook.

У матеріалі наводилися слова двох колишніх співробітників Facebook, які стверджували, що з Trending News систематично прибиралися статті консервативних видань або про республіканців.

Згодом сенатор від Республіканської партії Джон Тьюн зажадав від глави Facebook Марка Цукерберга дати пояснення з приводу передбачуваної цензури в соцмережі.
