Виробник окулярів віртуальної реальності Oculus, що належить соцмережі Facebook, повинен за рішенням суду виплатити компанії Zenimax півмільярда доларів. Компанія має намір оскаржити рішення.

Zenimax стверджувала в суді, що її ранні розробки були скопійовані співробітниками Oculus для виробництва окулярів віртуальної реальності Rift.

Присяжні визнали провину засновника Oculus Палмера Лакі в порушенні договору про нерозголошення інформації. Однак провина відповідачів у порушенні комерційної таємниці не була доведена.

У Oculus зазначають, що суд не задовольнив основні звинувачення позивача. "Суть справи полягала в тому, чи дійсно Oculus викрала захищені комерційною таємницею дані Zenimax, і з цього питання присяжні винесли рішення на нашу користь", - заявив прес-секретар Oculus.

Позивач вимагав з Oculus 2 мільярди доларів. Таку ж суму Facebook заплатила за Oculus в рамках угоди з поглинання виробника окулярів віртуальної реальності.

Засновник Facebook Марк Цукерберг відкидав звинувачення в тому, що продукти Oculus виробляються на основі чиєїсь чужої технології.
