Старший радник з масових комунікацій виборчого штабу Трампа Джейсон Міллер пізніше розповів CNN, що в матеріалі New York Post немає нічого ганебного. "Вона прекрасна жінка, ці фотографії являють собою торжество людського тіла як мистецтва".

Сам Дональд Трамп заявив журналістам газети, що Меланія була однією з найуспішніших моделей, вона брала участь в безлічі фотосесій, в тому числі для обкладинок великих журналів. Ці знімки були зроблені ще до їхнього знайомства. До того ж, за його словами, фотографії такого роду в Європі широко поширені і є "модними".
