Глава минюста Великобритании Майкл Гоув выдвинул свою кандидатуру на пост лидера Консервативной партии и премьер-министра страны. Об этом в четверг, 30 июня, сообщает BBC News.

Первоначально считалось, что Гоув поддержит на внутрипартийных выборах кандидатуру бывшего мэра Лондона Бориса Джонсона. Однако министр юстиции заявил, что Джонсон не обладает лидерскими качествами, необходимыми для решения стоящих перед государством задач.

«В ближайшие дни я представлю свой план для Соединенного Королевства, который, я надеюсь, сможет обеспечить единство и перемены», — сказал Гоув.

Ранее, 30 июня, о своем желании побороться за партийное лидерство и кресло премьер-министра объявила глава МВД Великобритании Тереза Мэй.

Нынешний глава британского кабинета министров Дэвид Кэмерон объявил о своей отставке 24 июня, на следующий день после оглашения результатов референдума по выходу страны из Европейского союза. По итогам плебисцита победили сторонники Brexit (выхода из состава ЕС), они набрали 51,9 процента голосов.
