Елі Парізер (Eli Pariser), автор книги «The Filter Bubble» та президент активістського ресурсу MoveOn.org створив документ в сервісі Google Doc під назвою «Design Solutions for Fake News» (Створюємо рішення для проблеми фейкових новин), пише Media Sapiens
 

В цей документ кожен може внести свої ідеї з приводу боротьби з пропагандою і фейковими новинами. Елі Парізер опублікував посилання на документ на своїй сторінці у Facebook в середині листопаду, написавши в ньому п'ять власних ідей щодо фейків.

Згодом автор відзначив прогрес у колективному брейнстормі:  «Я чув від кількох людей, що команди Google і Facebook  дивляться на нього (документ - MS). Я не очікував нічого подібного. Це гарне нагадування про те, чим хороший інтернет». 

За приблизними оцінками, документ зараз налічує 170 сторінок, для зручності в ньому є зміст та навігація за темами.  

Як розповів Парізер виданню USA Today, ідея створити подібний документ прийшла йому в голву під час читання статті, присвяченої результатам президентських виборів у США та впливу на них фейкових новин.
