Компанії заявили, що "суд мусить удосконалити застосування деяких доктрин, щоб гарантувати, що закон реалістично взаємодіє з інтернет-технологіями та очікуваннями людей щодо конфіденційності у цифрових даних". Технічні компанії вважають, що суди мають застосовувати більш гнучкий підхід, який реально відображає очікування людей у сучасному цифровому середовищі.

Ця справа може мати серйозні наслідки для конфіденційності в цифрову епоху.

Загалом звернення підписали 14 компаній.
