Великі світові компанії відмовилися розміщувати свою рекламу на майданчиках Google через нещодавній скандал. Виявилося, що реклама на YouTube з'являлася в роликах з екстремістським або образливим змістом,  пише Media Sapiens
 

Аналітики інвестиційного банку Nomura оцінюють, що бойкот рекламодавців обійдеться Google в 750 мільйонів доларів. Також компанія матиме додаткові видатки у розмірі 50 мільйонів доларів, якщо найме додаткових співробітників, які перевірятимуть контент перед завантаженням на YouTube.

Аналітики банку також прогнозують, що в цьому році Google ще зможе компенсувати збитки від бойкоту під час сезону різдвяних розпродажів. Але в 2018 році негативні наслідки цього бойкоту стануть вельми відчутними для компанії.

До бойкоту Google долучилися Marks & Spencer, McDonald’s, HSBC, Lloyds, The Guardian,  AT&T, Verizon Communications та багато інших.

Раніше керівник Google в Європі Метт Бріттін (Matt Brittin) вибачився перед компаніями і організаціями, які постраждали через алгоритм розміщення реклами та пообіцяв, що Google посилить контроль за цими процесами та за перевіркою відео, які завантажуються на платформу YouTube.

Згодом компанія анонсувала нові інструменти для рекламодавців, які дадуть їм змогу контролювати місця трансляції їх реклами.
