Компанія Google виключила "Russia Today" з добірки преміальних відеоресурсів YouTube, які компанія продає рекламодавцям.

Про це повідомила прес-секретар компанії, пише Українська правда із посиланням на  Bloomberg.

Рішення було прийнято на тлі розслідувань в Конгресі того, як російські агенти використовували цифрові платформи для впливу на вибори в США.

Google був покликаний дати свідчення комітетам Сенату і Палати представників, так само як і Facebook Inc. і Twitter Inc.

YouTube також потрапив в центр уваги і Конгрес вивчає роль "Russia Today" та інших мереж, які спецслужби США визначили як близькі до російського уряду.

Раніше канал "Russia Today", на якому є понад два мільйони глядачів на YouTube, був у списку популярних каналів для маркетологів, який називається Google Preferred.

Як відомо, у США до російського телеканалу RT висунули вимогу зареєструватися як іноземний агент.

Керівник каналу RT Маргарита Симоньян заявила, що реєстрація цього каналу у США як іноземного агента "може потягнути за собою такі обмеження, що просто не дозволять працювати в цій країні". 

Російська телемережа мовлення за кордон RT називає себе незалежною, але твердо проводить політичну лінію Кремля і фінансується з російського бюджету.

Телеканал цієї мережі, що працює у США, як і російське державне агентство новин "Спутнік", були названі у звіті спецслужб США як активні учасники кампанії втручання Росії у президентські вибори у США 2016 року  і як "прислужники корумпованої політичної еліти" в Росії.
