Компания Telegram заявила, что хакеры, определившие номера телефонов 15 млн пользователей мессенджера из Ирана, смогли получить доступ только к открытой информации, но не к самим аккаунтам, сообщает ВВС

Как утверждают в компании, хакеры проверили, зарегистрированы ли определенные иранские телефонные номера в Telegram. Таким образом, хакерам удалось подтвердить существование аккаунтов в Telegram 15 миллионов пользователей.

"Поскольку мессенджер Telegram привязан к номеру телефона, любой теоретически может проверить, зарегистрирован ли этот номер в системе", - говорится в заявлении компании.

Ранее СМИ со ссылкой на аналитиков Коллина Андерсона и Клаудио Гварнери сообщили, что хакеры смогли определить телефонные номера почти 15 млн пользователей Telegram из Ирана.

По словам аналитиков, хакеры использовали уязвимость в Telegram, которая позволяет перехватить код для активации, отправляемый пользователю по СМС.

В пресс-службе Telegram подчеркивают, что они и ранее предупреждали пользователей в ряде стран об опасности перехвата СМС с кодом для активации нового устройства. Для того, чтобы избежать перехвата СМС, Telegram рекомендует абонентам мессенджера пользоваться двухэтапной аутентификацией.
