У середу, 22 березня, Вілкулу під час його виступу почали вигукувати з сесійної зали, вимагаючи, аби депутат говорив українською – проте він проігнорував заклик. Після цього до нього звернулась Геращенко: "Будь ласка, я попрошу вас виступати українською мовою і шанувати українську". Вілкул не звернув уваги і на цей заклик. Свій виступ він закінчував вже під чутні звідусіль "Ганьба!"

А навздогін опоблоківцю Геращенко ще й виголосила емоційну промову: "Хочу нагадати, що вчора так само від "Опозиційного блоку" пані Наталя (Королевська – 5.UA) виступала, я звернулась з проханням шанувати державну мову і всі виступи, щоб з трибуни Верховної Ради були державною мовою. Це повага до держави України і до державної мови. Ми з вами є народні депутати України, а не Російської Федерації. Російська мова може абсолютно спокійно діяти в Україні, нею можна розмовляти вдома, в кулуарах, в ресторанах, з виборцями – це будь ласка. Але в українському парламенті з трибуни має звучати українська мова!"
