Кандидат в президенти від Демократичної партії Хілларі Клінтон заявила, що потенційне втручання Росії у вибори в США становить серйозну загрозу, яку необхідно швидко і надійно вирішувати.

Клінтон заявила, що "майже немислимо", якщо іноземний противник буде намагатися маніпулювати американською політичною системою. Вона зазначила, що президент РФ Володимир Путін і його помічники вважають, що вони мають певну вигоду.

"Ми повинні бути подвійно на сторожі, щоб захистити нашу виборчу систему на всіх рівнях, і ми повинні дати зрозуміти, що ми не збираємося дозволити нікому втручатися в рішення американського народу", - сказала Клінтон.

При цьому Клінтон не назвала якихось конкретних кроків, які вона буде робити, щоб попередити втручання Росії.

5 вересня газета Washington Post повідомила, що розвідка і правоохоронні органи США розслідують таємну російську операцію, мета якої - посіяти недовіру громадськості до майбутніх виборів в Штатах.
