Майкл Флінн, який свого часу займав посаду радника глави Білого дому Дональда Трампа з питань національної безпеки, в інтерв'ю ЗМІ надав підтвердження факту отримання у 2015 році фінансування від російських компаній. Як повідомляє PRпортал з посиланням на The Washington Post, відповідну інформацію було представлено у другому варіанті декларації Флінна. 

Зокрема відомо, що у підписаній 31 березня поточного року декларації Майкл Флінн повідомив про отриманні грошової винагороди від представників Russia Today, російського каналу пропагандистського спрямування, а ще від компаній «Лабораторія Касперського» та «Волга-Дніпро». У документі підкреслюється, що Флінн отримував фінансування завдяки виступам у вказаних компаніях. 

Свого часу у російській службі ВВС повідомили, що, можливо, екс-радник Дональда Трампа Майкл Флінн міг отримувати значну суму коштів від компаній РФ. Така інформація журналістам була оприлюднена членом Конгресу від Демократичної партії Елайджей Каммінгс. Флінн міг отримати не менше семи десятків тисяч доларів за те, що він брав участь у публічних виступах, а також надавав послуги лобістського характеру. 

Як повідомляв PRпортал Майкл Флінн погодився давати свідчення в обмін на імунітет. Також він приховав від Пентагону свої контакти з російською студенткою в Великобританії на семінарі з безпеки в 2014 році.
