Компанія Дональда Трампа під час своєї передвиборної кампанії наприкінці 2015-го і на початку 2016 року розглядала можливість будівництва вежі Trump Tower в Москві.

Народжений в Росії бізнесмен Фелікс Сатер у своїх листах закликав Трампа приїхати в Москву і "натякав, що зможе зробити так, щоб президент Володимир Путін сказав "прекрасні речі "про Трампа», пише газета з посиланням на кілька джерел, що ознайомилися зі змістом листування.

Сатер у електронному листі, відправленому в листопаді 2015 року, припускав, що скоро лідери девелоперської компанії Trump Organization святкуватимуть через початок "одного з найбільших житлових проектів в історії нерухомості та обрання Дональда Трампа президентом", відзначає видання.

Сатер покинув СРСР у віці шести років і виріс в Нью-Йорку.

У листі віце-президенту Trump Organization Майклу Коену він, за словами одного зі співрозмовників The Washington Post, написав: "Ти можеш повірити, що два хлопця з Брукліна виберуть президента?"

Трамп так і не поїхав до Москви в рамках цього проекту. Інвестори і його компанія підписали угоду про наміри, але у них не було ні землі, ні необхідних для початку будівництво дозволів, і проект був залишений в січні 2016 року - перед початком президентських праймеріз в США.

"Однак деталі угоди, про які раніше не повідомлялося, - це свідчення того, що бізнес Трампа мав значні комерційні інтереси в Росії в той час, коли той вів передвиборну кампанію і міг впливати на відносини між США і Росією", - пише The Washington Post .

Дані про московський проект будуть вивчені комітетом Конгресу, який веде своє розслідування передбачуваних зв'язків Трампа з Росією.
