На аукціоні Sotheby's у Нью-Йорку портрет китайського комуністичного лідера Мао Цзедуна було продано за 47,5 мільйонів доларів, повідомляє ТСН.

Автором полотна є відомий американський художник ХХ століття та засновник мистецького напрямку "комерційний поп-арт" Енді Воргол, повідомляє прес-служба аукціонного будинку.

Картина "Мао" 1972 року, виконана у техніці  шовкографії та із використанням яскравих кольорів.

У версії портрета Мао Цзедун зображений у темно-синьому френчі на блакитному тлі. Ліва частина його обличчя пофарбована в жовтий колір, а губи - в яскраво-малиновий.
