Бывший политтехнолог Партии регионов и экс-глава предвыборного штаба президента США Дональда Трампа Пол Манафорт не признал себя виновным в связи с последними обвинениями, выдвинутыми против него офисом спецпрокурора Мюллера.

Как сообщает агентство Рейтер, слушания по делу состоялись в среду, 28 февраля.  

После того, как его бывший партнер, Рик Гейтс, под давлением доказательств признал себя виновным на прошлой неделе и согласился сотрудничать со следствием, Полу Манафорту были выдвинуты новые обвинения. В частности, ему инкриминировали два новых эпизода наряду со сговором с целью отмывания денег, представление неверных налоговых деклараций, мошенничеством в банках и уклонение от регистрации в качестве иностранного агента, когда он занимался лоббированием прокремлевского правительства в Украине времен президента Виктора Януковича.

В связи с новыми обвинениями, Манафорт вместе с Гейтсом вывели более $30 млн через секретные офшорные счета, а также использовали "спрятанные за границей богатства, чтобы вести роскошную жизнь в США" уклоняясь от налогов со своих доходов.

Судья окружного суда Вашингтона Эми Берман Джексон определила дату начала судебного процесса, который начнется 17 сентября в столице США.
