Майже 400 редакторів англомовної Wikipedia були заблоковані за те, що вимагали гроші у представників малого бізнесу і знаменитостей за внесення поправок у статті про них.

Так, серед багатьох інших, жертвами шантажу стали один з учасників британського шоу талантів і фотограф з Дорсета.

Станом на зараз Вікіпедія заблокувала 381 аккаунт за практику «чорного капелюха – прийняття або вимагання грошей за просування зовнішніх інтересів у Вікіпедії без вказівки джерела».

Блокування було зроблене за результатами розслідування, проведеного Orange Moody.
