При цьому наголошується, що ані колишні президенти Буші, ні Білл Клінтон не оголосили своє остаточне рішення про те, чи планують вони прибути на церемонію.

Офіційний представник президента Буша-молодшого заявив з цього приводу, що 43-й президент планує оголосити своє рішення у новому році. За інформацією джерел, він ще вагається.

Його батько, Джордж Буш-старший, вже приніс свої вибачення і відмовився від участі в інавгурації, посилаючись на свій вік.

Білл Клінтон також часто публічно критикує Трампа – як під час гонки, так і після перемоги мільярдера над Хілларі Клінтон, дружиною 42-го президента США.

Зараз у Сполучених Штатах живуть чотири екс-президента: Джиммі Картер (1977-1981 рр..), Джордж Буш-старший (1989-1993 рр.), Білл Клінтон (1993-2001 рр.) і Джордж Буш-молодший (2001-2009 рр.). Крім того, титул чинного президента (до 20 січня наступного року) носить Барак Обама.
