Генасамблея ООН прийняла резолюцію, яка скасувала завісу секретності і вибраності

Голови Генеральної Асамблеї ООН Могенс Люккетофт і Ради Безпеки Саманта Пауер розіслали 193 державам листа, в яких повідомляється про початок відбору кандидатів на пост генерального секретаря організації. Про це повідомляє France Presse.

Відзначається, що протягом десятиліть обрання генсека ООН було компетенцією п'яти постійних членів Ради Безпеки ООН - Британії, Китаю, Франції, Росії та Сполучених Штатів.

У вересні 2015 року Генеральна асамблея ООН прийняла резолюцію, яка скасовувала завісу секретності і обраності, що оточувала вибори голови організації. Резолюція спростила процес виборів, зробивши його відкритим. Кандидатам досить представити резюме і викласти своє бачення роботи на цьому посту.

У листі йдеться, що перші слухання кандидатів відбудуться в наприкінці березня - на початку квітня. Процес відбору почнеться в наприкінці липня.
