У Верховній раді зареєстрований проекту Закону «Про внесення змін до деяких Законів України щодо введення історично обґрунтованого найменування рубль як меншої частини грошової одиниці України гривні» реєстр.№ 2491а, автор народний депутат України, член фракції «Блок Петра Порошенка» Олег Мусій.

Депутат розповів, що даний законопроект розроблено з метою приведення найменування меншої частки грошової одиниці в Україні до історично обґрунтованої назви. Завданням законопроекту є усунення недоліків, які існують в Законах України «Про Національний банк України», «Про цінні папери та фондовий ринок» та «Про пенсійне забезпечення» до яких вносяться відповідні зміни.
«Із багатьох історичних джерел ми дізнаємось, що меншою частиною гривні був саме рубль. І саме рубль, а не копійка, був часткою гривні.

З часу введення грошової одиниці в Україні – гривні, без історичного обґрунтування її меншу частину було названо словом копійка.

А з усіх історичних джерел вбачається, що копійка є частиною саме рубля, а не гривні. Отже з часів Русі (України) на нашій території грошовими одиницями були гривня та її менша частина рубль. Прийняття проекту Закону «Про внесення змін до деяких Законів України щодо введення історично обґрунтованого найменування рубль як меншої частини грошової одиниці України гривні» відновить історичну справедливість у застосуванні назви рубля як меншої частини грошової одиниці в Україні – гривні», – підкреслив Олег Мусій.
