В следующем году американская газетаThe New York Times (NYT) собирается сфокусироваться на своей аудитории, в связи с чем объявила 2018 год годом читателей.
Для этого издание расширяет штат, ответственный за стратегию работы с аудиторией, пишет Телекритика
В совместном письме сотрудникам главный редактор Дин Бакет, управляющий редактор Джо Кан, редактор редакционной полосы Джеймс Беннет и замглавреда Клифф Леви отметили, что сейчас у газеты более 3,5 млн платных подписчиков и 130 млн читателей в месяц – в два раза больше, чем два года назад. "Наша журналистика еще никогда не была такой сильной, как в последние месяцы. И наша аудитория отреагировала на это", – подчеркивают они.
Вместе с тем редакторы считают, что NYT может достичь большего и привлечь еще несколько миллионов подписчиков в ближайшие годы. Для этого необходимо, в частности, активнее работать с лояльной аудиторией, а именно – разработать четкое представление о том, кто является читателем газеты, как составить достойную конкуренцию в борьбе за читательское внимание и время и продемонстрировать, что журналистика NYT стоит того, чтобы за нее платили.
С этой целью в издании решено создать три новые руководящие должности – директор редакции по работе с аудиторией (будет заниматься анализом аудитории и рекомендовать темы и каналы дистрибуции для контента), внеплатформенный (будет работать над дистрибуцией по каналам соцсетей и т.д.) и платформенный (будет заниматься стратегией по работе с десктопной и мобильной группами аудитории) редакторы. Они будут играть ключевую роль в эволюции и управлении ньюсрумом и репутацией.
Напомним, с декабря New York Times вдвое (с десяти до пяти) сократила количество статей, которые пользователи могут бесплатно читать на ее сайте в течение месяца. На такой шаг издание пошло, чтобы увеличить количество подписчиков, которые платят за его контент.
