YouTube розробляє нову функцію під назвою Backstage, яка дозволить користувачам розміщувати на своїх каналах фотографії, опитування, посилання і текстові повідомлення.
 

Так мережа намагається утримати відеоблогерів та їх фанів від переходу на інші платформи. Так, з появою вкладки Backstage, користувачі зможуть обговорювати відеоролики безпосередньо на YouTube, не переходячи в соцмережі. Так відеохостинг збільшить час, який користувачі приділяють YouTube, пише Media Sapiens

Імовірно, функція Backstage буде впроваджена пізніше в цьому році, можливо, навіть вже восени. Також VentureBeat прогнозує, що спершу ступ до нової функції буде відкритий для обмеженого числа каналів.

Раніше YouTube оголосила про намір запустити новий онлайн сервіс, який буде транслювати контент великих телевізійних мереж. Новий сервіс отримає назву Unplugged. Його повноцінний запуск повинен відбутися на початку 2017 року. 

Також повідомлялося про те, що опулярні блогери на YouTube втратили десятки, а деякі і сотні тисяч підписників через те, що компанія Google провела чистку неактивних  акаунтів YouTube.
