Новий президент Естонії Керсті Кальюлайд відмовилася від вдячного богослужіння в день вступу на посаду 10 жовтня.
 

Про це повідомляє Postimees.

За даними видання, вона стала першим президентом Естонії, хто відмовився від цієї церемонії, традицію якої заклав перший післявоєнний президент Леннарт Мері.

Подібна традиція існує у всіх країнах Північної Європи.

Як заявив глава Естонської Євангелічної лютеранської церкви архієпископ Урмас Віілма, він подзвонив Кальюлайд в день її обрання, розповів про традиції і повідомив про готовність провести богослужіння подяки.

Кальюлайд пообіцяла подумати, але через два дні канцелярія глави держави повідомила, що вона відмовилася.

Президент не захотіла брати участь і в церемонії екуменістичного богослужіння за участю всіх церков, що входять до Ради церков Естонії.

Глава лютеран зазначив, що він очікує більш широкого співробітництва церкви і президента.
