Премьер-министр Молдовы Павел Филип, на прошлой неделепринявший присягу на фоне масштабных протестов, отказался покидать свой пост по требованию оппозиции.

Филип заявил, что у политической элиты Молдавии в условиях многомесячного кризиса власти и экономических проблем попросту не осталось бы времени на полноценные выборы, если бы он покинул свой пост.

"Если бы сегодня мы ушли в отставку, парламенту дали бы три месяца на формирование нового кабинета. Это значит, что на протяжении четырех месяцев политики боролись бы за место в правительстве. Ситуация была чревата глубоким экономическим и социальным кризисом. Вполне возможно, что в Молдавии на четыре месяца перестали бы платить зарплату", - сказал Филип в интервью Би-би-си.

Говоря об уличных протестах - оппозиция после присяги Филипа грозилась, в частности, блокировать дороги - премьер сказал, что правительство будет противостоять манифестантам на улице.

"Дороги мы разблокируем. Все действия протестующих, которые будут идти вразрез с законом, будут наказываться. Если протестующие перейдут черту и начнется насилие, правительство будет реагировать в рамках закона", - сказал Филип.

Правительство Филипа приняло присягу ночью. В предшествующий день демонстранты, выступавшие против нового кабинета министров, прорвались в парламент.

Однако когда протест утих, пресс-служба президента сообщила о том, что новое правительство приступило к работе.
