Президент США Барак Обама скасував зустріч з президентом Філіппін Родріго Дутерте, який назвав його "сучим сином", пише ВВС.

Пан Обама сказав, що зверне додаткову увагу на пов'язані з наркоторгівлею позасудові вбивства на Філіппінах, які обурюють правозахисників.

Однак пан Дутерте, з санкції якого відбуваються вбивства наркоторговців, сказав, що якщо це станеться, то він привселюдно назве його лайливим висловом "Putang ina" (сучий син).

Замість президента Філіппін лідер США зустрінеться тепер з президентом Південної Кореї.

Зустріч відбудеться в Лаосі в рамках саміту Асоціації держав Південно-Східної Азії.

Президент Дутерте, який прийшов до влади в червні цього року, взяв жорстку лінію у боротьбі з наркоторгівлею.

З того часу на Філіппінах було вбито близько 2400 підозрюваних у торгівлі наркотиками.

Він назвав "грубими" спроби американського президента втручатися в його політику.

"Кампанія проти наркотиків триватиме й далі. Багато людей помруть, багатьох уб'ють, аж поки на вулицях не залишиться жодного дилера... ми будемо продовжувати, аж поки не буде вбито останнього виробника", - сказав пан Дутерте.

Раніше він уже вживав лайливі слова на адресу інших публічних осіб.

Папу Франциска президент Дутерте теж називав "сучим сином", держсекретаря Джона Керрі - "навіженим", а посла США на Філіппінах - "гомосексуальним сучим сином".

Кореспонденти кажуть, що такі колоритні формулювання гарно сприймаються його виборцями, однак можуть дорого обійтися панові Дутерті на міжнародній арені.
