Медицинская разработка американских ученых Дональда Ингбера и Дэна Донгеуна Хуха из Института Висса при Гарвардском университете признана лучшим дизайном года.

Премией Дизайн года от лондонского Музея дизайна наградили разработку органы-на чипе – микроустройство в виде бруска из полимерного материала, который содержит клетки человеческих органов и имитирует функции органов людей, сообщает Новое время.

Исследователи отмечают, что медицинская разработка поможет не только тестировать лекарства, но и подбирать оптимальные методики лечения, а также наблюдать за ходом развития заболеваний. Кроме того, уникальное микроустройство позволит получить более точные результаты доклинических исследований в сравнении с животными моделями и ускорит процесс испытания лекарственных препаратов.

«Органы-на-чипе позволят исследовать биологические механизмы, о которых никто не знал прежде. Большинство фармацевтических компаний получают абсолютно разные результаты во время исследований на собаках, кошках, лабораторных мышах и людях, но теперь они будут способны исследовать специфические эффекты медикаментозных препаратов с большей точностью и скоростью», - говорит Дональд Ингбер.

Комментируя победу медицинской разработки в конкурсе представители лондонского Музея дизайна отметили, что таким образом получили возможность исследовать новые территории в сфере дизайна:

«Проект-победитель нашего конкурса расширяет границы в сфере дизайна. Он показывает, как дизайн может повлиять на наше общество сейчас и в будущем», - говорит куратор конкурса Музея дизайна, Джемма Куртин.
