Нижня палата Конгресу США під час перегляду законопроекту H.R.2685 щодо фінансування витрат Пентагону на 2016 рік прийняла поправки, які визначають український полк "Азов" (у тексті документа - "Батальйон Азов") як неонацистську організацію та забороняють виділення коштів на підготовку бійців цього формування силами американських інструкторів.

Про це йдеться на сайті одного з авторів поправки конгресмена Джона Коньєрса, передає Укрінформ.

"Конгресмен від демократів Джон Коньєрс та конгресмен від республіканців Тед Йохо запропонували двопартійні поправки, які блокують підготовку українського неонацистського воєнізованого формування "Батальйон Азов", а також запобігають потрапляння переносних зенітно-ракетних комплексів в Ірак і Україну", - зазначається на веб-сторінці законодавця.

Український "Батальйон Азов", який налічує 1 тис. добровольців Національної гвардії України, журнал Foreign Policy охарактеризував "відверто неонацистським" та "фашистським", підкреслюється в публікації.

"Я вдячний, що Палата представників напередодні одностайно прийняла мої поправки", - пише з цього приводу конгресмен.

За процедурою, крім законопроекту Палати представників, аналогічний документ має прийняти Сенат США. Після цього документи об'єднуються в спільний проект закону, який потім подається на підпис президентові.
