Американський медіакритик Девід Карр (David Carr) був знайдений непритомним в офісі газети The New York Times.

Як пише New York Times, 58-річного медіакритика знайшли 9 вечора 12 лютого у ньюзрумі газети непритомним та доставили до лікарні. Там медики констатували його смерть.

У своєму зверненні до редакції видавець NYT Артур Сальцбергер-молодший (ArthurSulzberger, Jr) назвав померлого одним із найбільш талановитих журналістів, які коли-небуть працювали у цій газеті.

За словами власника видання, Карр «поєднував помітний талант репортера із гострими судженнями», а в пам’яті своїх друзів залишиться «унікальною людиною, повною енергії, веселою, вірною, приємною».

Головний редактор The New York Times Дін Бекіт (DeanBaquet) заявив, що Девід Карр був «найкращим журналістом своєї генерації, дивовижною та радісною людиною, одним із лідерів ньюзруму газети».

Він писав для NYT на теми культури, а також готував медіакритичні матеріали. Останнім часом був відомий тим, що вів підрубрику The Media Equation, у якій щопонеділка публікувалися його авторські колонки.
