Лідери партій, що входять до правлячої коаліції Німеччини офіційно представили главу МЗС Франка Вальтера Штайнмаєра у якості свого кандидата на пост президента.

Про це повідомляє Європейська правда.

За словами канцлера Німеччини і глава партії ХДС Ангели Меркель, Штайнмаєр є "правильний кандидат у даний час".

"Громадяни можуть довіряти Франку-Вальтеру Штайнмаєру"  - додала вона.

Канцлер високо оцінила його досвід і "знання світу за межами наших кордонів".

Глава соціал-демократів Зігмар Габріель наголосив, що кандидатуру Штайнмаєра підтримала вся урядова коаліція.

Сам Штайнмаєр заявив, що посада федерального президента "вимагає сміливості", і він хотів би пробудити сили, які є у суспільстві.

Президент має бути обраний на засіданні Федеральних Зборів 12 лютого 2017 року.

Варто зазначити, що у 2009 році Франк-Вальтер Штайнмаєр був конкурентом Меркель у боротьбі за посаду канцлера.

Нагадаємо, нещодавно у Німеччині лідери партій, що входять до правлячої коаліції домовилися про висунення Франка-Вальтера Штайнмаєра кандидатом на пост президента Німеччини.

ЗМІ також повідомили, що Ангела Меркель буде балотуватися на четвертий термін на пост канцлера країни.
