Президент Каталонії Артур Мас оголосив про рішення не брати участь у виборах глави Женералитета (каталонського уряду), щоб уникнути дострокових виборів. Про це повідомляє  Еuronews.

Таке рішення прийнято на тлі протиріч між партіями "Кандидати народної єдності" та "Разом за "Так", які не можуть домовитися про лідера коаліції, хоча обидві виступають за незалежність Каталонії від Мадрида.

"Перше рішення – зробити крок убік і не висувати свою кандидатуру (на посаду голови Женералітета)", — заявив Артур Мас.

"Нам вдалося розблокувати те, що здавалося неможливо розблокувати. Три місяці переговорів і нескінченних зустрічей погіршили ситуацію. Країні не вистачало перспективи. Проводити нові вибори було б не кращим сценарієм. Якщо б це було неминуче, ми б це зробили. Але це не було б бажаним сценарієм", — додав Мас.

Коаліція Junts pel Si (Разом за "так"), неформальним лідером якої є Мас, за його словами, висуне на посаду голови уряду Каталонії мера Жирони Карлеса Пуігдемонта.
