Президента Бразилії Ділму Руссефф, яку 12 травня відсторонили від виконання своїх обов'язків через корупцію, позбавили посади.

Голосування сенату щодо її імпічменту відбулося у середу, 31 серпня.

Депутати підтримали імпічмент 61 голосом, 20 сенаторів проголосували проти.

Руссефф закидають маніпуляції з державним бюджетом країни та використання коштів державних банків задля приховування реальних проблем в економіці під час кампанії щодо її переобрання у 2014 році.

Крім того, соратники президента виявилися залученими до масштабної афери із коштами державного паливного гіганта Petrobras.

Сама Руссефф звинувачення називає надуманими, а імпічмент - спробою державного перевороту.
