Глава МЗС Канади Христя Фріланд, українка за походженням, звинуватила Росію в поширенні про неї фейкової інформації.

Як пише The Washington Post, Фріланд уточнила, що мова йде про її дідуся-українця, передає Новое время. Прокремлівські сайти - Russian Insider і the New Cold War – поширили про сім'ю Фріланд голослівне твердження про те, що її дідусь-українець співпрацював з нацистами на території Польщі в роки Другої світової війни. Активна кампанія з дискредитації Фріланд почалася з моменту її призначення на посаду глави МЗС Канади в січні

"Були спроби з боку Росії по дестабілізації західних демократій, і я думаю, що не варто дивуватися, якщо ці зусилля були використані проти Канади", - прокоментувала Фріланд.

Журналісти газети зв'язалися з посольством РФ в Оттаві з проханням прокоментувати звинувачення Фріланд. Представник російських дипломатів в Канаді Кирило Калінін заявив, що не може ні підтвердити, ні спростувати ці повідомлення.

Нагадаємо, у зв'язку з призначенням Фріланд Москва підтвердила факт знаходження нового міністра закордонних справ Канади Христі Фріланд в російському списку санкцій.
