Согласно документу, распространенному в ООН в преддверии субботних переговоров в Вене по сирийскому конфликту, Россия предлагает установить переходный период на 18 месяцев в охваченной гражданской войной стране, после чего там можно будет провести выборы президента.

Из перечня предложений не следует, хочет ли Москва видеть Башара Асада президентом в течение этих полутора лет. Также там не высказаны предположения о том, стоит ли ему выдвигать кандидатуру на досрочных выборах, пишет ВВС

Кремль также предлагает сирийской оппозиции выступить единым фронтом в качестве одной из сторон переговорного процесса.

Как утверждала ранее представитель МИД России Мария Захарова, одна из главных целей субботней встречи - определить, каких представителей сирийской оппозиции следует считать партнерами по переговорному процессу.

В предыдущих венских переговорах в конце октября принимали участие 19 делегаций, в том числе из России, США, Саудовской Аравии, Турции, Ирана, ОАЭ, Катара, Иордании, Германии, Франции, Египта, Италии, Великобритании, Ирака и Ливана.
