Российский телеканал RT планирует открыть филиал в Ирландии. Об этом сообщает Bloomberg со ссылкой на два осведомленных источника, передает РБК.

По данным собеседников агентства, один из руководителей российского телеканала уже встретился с представителями ирландского агентства по привлечению иностранных инвестиций IDA, которое содействует расширению компании.

RT планирует нанять 12 англоязычных корреспондентов для нового подразделения.

Еще в 2013 г. Президент России Владимир Путин заявлял, что целью RT является "разрушить монополию англосаксонских СМИ" на мировом рынке новостей.

В ноябре 2014 г. британский медиарегулятор обвинил Russia Today в предвзятости из-за освещения телеканалом аннексии Крыма к России. В бюллетене говорилось, что "RT предоставляет информацию с точки зрения России, тем не менее, все новости должны быть представлены беспристрастно".

RT является частью усилий Путина по распространению "мягкой силы России" и намерению обеспечить альтернативу британскому и американскому телерадиовещанию, пишет издание.
