Українська льотчиця Надія Савченко, яка очікує вироку в Росії, стала лауреаткою престижної польської премії «Орел» Яна Карського за «загартований дух в боротьбі за людську гідність і гордість».

Про це повідомляє «Радіо Польща», передає Укрінформ

«Її було викрадено з території своєї країни, звинувачення були фальсифіковані. Її утримують в Росії, незважаючи на протести всього цивілізованого світу. Своєю поведінкою в російській в'язниці вона дає приклад людини, яку можна позбавити життя, але не можна зламати. Зараз вона голодує», - повідомило журі премії.

Як відомо, Ян Карський заснував премію «Орел» у 2000 році, незадовго до своєї смерті. Нагорода польського дипломата, людини, яка повідомила світу про Голокост, вручається, згідно його слів, «полякам, які з гідністю піклуються про Польщу» і громадянам інших країн, які «не будучи поляками, підтримують Польщу».

У 2015 році премія вперше була присуджена посмертно Борису Нємцову. Серед лауреатів премії Яна Карського - Тадеуш Мазовецький, Лех Валенса, Адам Міхнік, Марек Едельман, Шимон Перес та інші.
