Вираз прем'єр-міністра Австралії Тоні Еббота на адресу президента Росії Володимира Путіна став "словом року" в Австралії.

Як заявляє глава Австралійського національного словникового центру Аманда Лаугесен, слово shirtfront знайшло таке значення після того, як воно стало популярним в соціальних, культурних і політичних сферах країни.

"Багато хто не знав значення цього виразу, у зв'язку з чим з'явилося багато обговорень цього слова, а також використання його прем'єром Ебботом. І ми вирішили, що це саме те слово, про яке стільки говорять люди", - уточнила Лаугесен.

Нагадаємо, що за місяць до зустрічі G20 Еббот пообіцяв жорстко обговорити з Путіним крах малайзійського Boeing на сході України. При цьому він використовував термін shirtfront з австралійського футболу - жорсткий прийом, коли один гравець збиває іншого, щоб заволодіти м'ячем.
