Соединенные Штаты приветствуют успешное проведение местных выборов в Мариуполе и поздравляют жителей города с осуществлением своего права голоса, написал в твиттере посол США в Украине Джеффри Пайетт, пишет lb.ua

Он также напомнил, что наблюдатели гражданской сети "ОПОРА" и Комитета избирателей Украины сочли прошедшие выборы спокойными и не заметили серьезных нарушений.

Пайетт заявил, что следующим шагом должны стать выборы на оккупированной территории Донбасса.

"Продолжаю надеяться, что украинцы на оккупированной территории, переселенцы и беженцы скоро смогут выбирать своих лидеров в соответствии с украинскими законами, стандартами ОБСЕ и Минскими договоренностями", - написал посол.

Напомним, США настаивали на том, чтобы выборы в Мариуполе состоялись, хотя украинская власть указывала на небезопасность голосования.
